A Friday morning headline on the front page of Hamevaser newspaper, which is aligned with the haredi "Shlomei Emunim" group, levied criticism against the government regarding its handling of the Draft Law, and for the Likud's intention not to legislate the Override Clause as understood from Netanyahu's words this week, during his interview with the Wall Street Journal . Shlomei Emunim is a subfaction within the Agudat Yisrael faction of the United Torah Judaism list. "There is terror in the Torah world from the intent to violate all the agreements regarding regulating the status of the yeshiva students. Torah-true Judaism protests against those who violate all agreements and promises with compromises which uproot the principle [of the agreements]." Regarding Netanyahu's words to the Wall Street Journal , Hamevaser wrote that, "In addition to the continuous deferral of progress on the law to regulate the status of the yeshiva students, the Likud intends to violate its commitment to legislate the Override Clause which would prevent the Supreme Court from ending the the status quo of, 'their Torah is their profession.'" On Thursday, Jerusalem Minister Meir Porush (United Torah Judaism) clarified that his party will not accept a decision to shelve the Override Clause. "Two weeks ago, in a meeting with the Prime Minister in the presence of ministers [Yariv] Levin, [Dudi] Amsalem, and the Cabinet Secretary, I warned against this improper idea, and demanded in the name of United Torah Judaism that the amendment to the Draft Law include the execution of the three signed commitments: Basic Law: Torah Study, the Override Clause, and the amendment to the Service and Security Law, accordingly. Any other agreement is not acceptable to us," he said.
