Construction and Housing Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf on Sunday sent a letter to Jerusalem District Police Chief Dep. Com. Doron Turgiman requesting his involvement regarding the repeated attacks on the Chabad House in the Rehavia section of Jerusalem.
"It was brought to my attention that for the fourth time in a row, the Chabad house in Rehavia, Jerusalem, was defaced over the weekend by an unknown vandal. Security footage shows a man defacing property and ripping torah pamphlets outside the Chabad House," the Minister wrote.
He states that "Rabbi Israel Goldberg, who works at the site, said he contacted the police the first time the place was defaced. After a period of bureaucracy, they notified him that the case was closed due to a lack of public interest. I see this severely. It is unthinkable that in the Jewish state, especially in the capital of Israel, a site of worship being defaced time after time would pass without reaction.
I request your personal involvement in the matter to ensure the police tend to the severe incident and bring the vandal to justice," Goldknopf concludes.
