
IDF, Shin Bet (ISA), and Israel Border Police forces continue to operate in the Jenin Camp; A short while ago, an explosives manufacturing facility was located, containing hundreds of explosive devices, the IDF said in a statement.
The facility contained hundreds of explosive devices ready to be used, along with a pit used for concealing weapons. The soldiers also located and confiscated two-way radios and military equipment from the site. In addition, IDF soldiers located an explosives manufacturing facility that contained dozens of improvised explosive devices and a guidebook on how to make additional explosive devices.
Another explosives manufacturing facility was also located and means used for the manufacturing of explosive devices were found there. The soldiers confiscated all of the weapons.
In parallel, during counterterrorism activities to apprehend a wanted suspect in the area of the city of Jenin, a confrontation occurred between IDF soldiers and a gunman. The soldiers responded with live fire and hits were identified. One of the gunmen was neutralized and his weapon was confiscated. During another activity to apprehend a wanted suspect, the soldiers opened fire toward the suspect. As a result, the wanted suspect was injured, apprehended and transferred to receive medical treatment.
No IDF injuries were reported.
The IDF further stated that a large chae of weapons and explosives was found inside a mosque in Jenin.
"Over the last few hours, exchanges of fire between Israeli security forces and Palestinian gunmen took place in the Jenin Camp at a mosque that is affiliated with terrorist organizations in the area. Following ISA and IDF intelligence, IDF soldiers searched the underground floor of the mosque, in which armed assailants had barricaded themselves, and located two pits that contained explosive devices, weapons and military equipment affiliated with the terrorist organizations. The soldiers are currently confiscating and neutralizing the weapons," the military stated.
The IDF launched a large-scale counterterrorism operation in Jenin overnight Sunday following a wave of terrorist attacks originating from the city.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that "the focused effort on the part of the defense system against terror centers in Jenin is advancing as planned. Our action targets terrorists and those who send them. We are maintaining preparedness and high alert in all sectors, and we are prepared for every scenario."
