Cleared for publication: IDF soldier David Yehuda Yitzhak from Beit El, a member of the Egoz Unit, was killed during operational activity in Jenin on Tuesday. The soldier was taken to hospital in critical condition for medical treatment, but was pronounced dead at the hospital. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said, "This evening (Tuesday), a non-commissioned officer in combat service was killed by live fire during the operation against terrorist infrastructure in the Jenin Camp." "His family has been notified. The IDF sends its heartfelt condolences to the family and will continue to support them. " Earlier it was reported that exchanges of gunfire broke out between armed terrorists and security forces near the government hospital in Jenin. Yizhak, 23, will be laid to rest on Wednesday, June 5th 2023, 16:00 at the military cemetery in on Mount Herzl. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit relayed that the family has requested that there be no media coverage of the funeral. Beit El Local Council head Shai Alon siad: "The residents of Beit El mourn the death of David Yehuda Yizhak Hy"d (may G-d avenge his blood), killed in action during the IDF operation in Jenin. David was a fighter in the Egoz commando unit, eldest son of Moshe and Emunah, brother of six siblings. Our hearts go out to his family at the news of the terrible loss 'For He will avenge the blood of His servants, inflict revenge upon His adversaries, and appease His land [and] His people (Deuternomy 32)'." Gush Etzion Regional Council head and Yesha Council Chairman Shlomo Ne’eman said: “We mourn the loss of David Yehudah Yitzchak HY”D, the brave IDF soldier killed in battle. David was raised in Beit-El and was a respected officer in the elite Egoz commando unit. We have contacted the Red Cross more than once about the shooting at the hospital, but the IDF does not respond to requests." The Palestinian Authority official in charge of health said that "the occupation forces escalated the aggression against medical facilities and hospitals in Jenin". She also claimed that "the forces stormed the hospital and opened fire inside it. There are three wounded, two of them in serious condition. The forces also stormed the Ibn Sina hospital in the city." Earlier it was reported that the security forces located and confiscated thousands of weapons in the refugee camp and the city of Jenin, including explosive charges, ammunition, weapons and explosives laboratories. The IDF said that "more than 300 suspects will be interrogated, and 30 of them have been arrested. The forces located and raided 14 apartments belonging to suspects and war management rooms that were used for terrorism, six explosive laboratories that contained more than 300 charges, materials for making charges and additional IED, and three war management rooms that constituted a terrorist infrastructure." The message also stated, "Ten improvised land mines were confiscated, 24 M16 rifles, eight pistols and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Hundreds of thousands of terrorist funds were confiscated and tens of kilograms of chemical material for making explosives. Six underground shafts and two munitions silos where many munitions were stored were located."
