At least one person has been wounded in a terrorist shooting attack at the Tekoa Junction in Gush Etzion Sunday morning.
Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that a man in his thirties is in serious condition. The victim was evacuated to Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Two children, a 9-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl, suffered shrapnel injuries from the shooting. The children are reportedly the daughters of the shooting victim.
The terrorists opened fire from a passing vehicle.
The IDF reported that security forces are pursuing suspects in the shooting.
MDA Senior EMT Netanel Rabi and MDA EMT Avichai Tubi said: "We arrived at the scene in a few minutes and saw a lot of commotion. A man about 35 years old was lying conscious on the road and suffering from gunshot wounds to his body. We gave him medical treatment in cooperation with the IDF medical force and evacuated him in an MDA mobile intensive care unit to the hospital in a serious and stable condition. 2 other injured people who were walking around the place were mildly injured by shrapnel and taken to the hospital while receiving medical treatment."
United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Leah Klein who was one of the first responders at the scene said: "Together with EMS personnel from the IDF we treated a man in his thirties for a gunshot wound and two young women, his daughters, for light injuries. The man was in moderate but stable condition when he was transported to the hospital."
Gush Etzion Regional Council Mayor, and Yesha Council Chairman, Shlomo Ne'eman, said: "This morning there was a terrorist drive-by shooting at the Tekoa Junction. A resident of Gush Etzion was seriously wounded, and his two daughters, who were with him in the car, were lightly wounded from shrapnel. The wounded were transported to Shaare Tzedek, as IDF forces are in pursuit of the terrorists."
Speaking from the location of the attack Ne'eman said: “It was a terrible morning with difficult news, as there was a terrorist shooting here in Gush Etzion. We're talking about an area where there hasn't been a serious terrorist attack for years. We all wish a speedy recovery to the person wounded, and embrace the security forces who will soon catch the despicable terrorists, and settle the score with them. We will not give in to the terrorists who seek to spill Jewish blood and throw us out of our country. The emergency services and all relevant bodies are in touch with the family of the wounded, and are working to assist all of our residents as best as possible.”
