An assistant at a Hod Hasharon childcare center was arrested Tuesday evening on suspicion of harming the children in her care, Maariv reported.

According to Maariv, the center's manager has been detained for questioning.

Police opened an investigation into the matter upon receiving reports from the Education Ministry regarding a suspicion of assaults by the assistant on children between the ages of 1-2 years old at a private childcare center in the city.

The Welfare Ministry received complaints regarding an assistant who acted aggressively towards the children. Ministry supervisors arrived at the Ministry and watched footage from the security cameras, which showed instances of flinging, force-feeding, and the use of unreasonable force by the assistant.

The assistant in question is a resident of Tira, aged 22.

The center manager is a resident of Hod Hasharon in her 50s. She has been questioned in order to determine if she is connected to the incidents.

Meanwhile, police have requested to extend the arrest of the assistant, and the manager has been placed under house arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
