The number of reservists who reported for duty at the IDF's 36th Division, a multi-front armored division in the Northern Command, far surpassed its required manpower.
The high rate of reservists reporting for duty comes amid calls by anti-government protesters to refuse service and dozens of letters threatening to stop volunteering for reserve service if the government's judicial reform legislation continues.
A military source told Israel National News-Arutz Sheva that last week, the division called up combat soldiers and clerks for an exercise that began with a surprise early call-up. The quick response by the troops was higher than needed.
According to the source, the commanders, who were impressed by the unusually large reserve workforce, offered some of the soldiers to return home, but they insisted on voluntarily staying and participating in the activity and the exercise.
