Israel Police is investigating an Arab youth suspected of stabbing a Jewish man who entered the Arab town of Dayr Qadis earlier this month.

According to initial reports, the military stated that several Israelis had entered the town and that an Arab man attacked them and stabbed one of them. The victim suffered light injuries and was taken to Modi'in Illit for treatment.

Footage from the scene shows that after the stabbing, the terrorist chased his Jewish victim, attempting to stab him additional times.

Responding to Honenu attorney Chaim Bleicher, who is representing the victim, police said that the suspected stabber was caught and his arrest has been extended by the Ofer military court.

The stabbing took place approximately two weeks ago, when a resident of the city of Modi'in Illit entered nearby Dayr Qadis. As he stood on the street, the man noticed the suspect chasing another Jew and attempting to stab him with a knife. Upon noticing him, the suspect decided to deviate from his path and began chasing him and attempting to stab him.

At one point, the terrorist tried to stab the Jew in his neck and upper body. The Jew tried to fight him, but the terrorist succeeded in causing injuries to the victim's shoulder.

Following the stabbing attack, the Jew was evacuated to a hospital, and released later that same day. In a letter sent by Bleicher to the police, he wrote that the stabbing is an attempted murder which was performed due to nationalist and terrorist motives.

Therefore, Bleicher on Monday turned to the Military Prosecutor, requesting that he take the matter extremely seriously and act to bring the terrorist, who twice tried to murder Jews due to antisemitic motives, to justice.

"We praise the security forces for the capture of the terrorist who carried out the terror attack in Dayr Qadis," Bleicher said. "This is a terrorist who was determined to murder Jews and who attempted to carry out his murderous plans against two Jews. By miracle, the incident ended with light injuries, but this cannot lead to the acquittal of the terrorist, and we must bring him fully to justice."
