The NFL’s New York Giants on Sunday paid tribute to the Americans who were taken hostage by Hamas after its October 7 attack on Israel.

“Today, we are flying flags in 10 empty seats in MetLife Stadium to honor the Americans currently being held hostage,” the team wrote on X.

“These hostages were just 10 of the 200 kidnapped during the terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7,” it added.

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) welcomed the gesture and wrote, “Thank you, Giants, for this sobering reminder that Iran-backed Hamas terrorists are still holding innocent American hostages after its brutal attack on Israel.”

“I call on all teams and organizations to join in honoring these Americans. We cannot rest until they are home safe,” he added.

The NFL was one of several professional sports leagues which expressed support for Israel after the deadly Hamas attack.

“The NFL mourns the loss of innocent lives in Israel and strongly condemns all forms of terrorism,” the league said two weeks ago.

“The depravity of these acts is beyond comprehension, and we grieve with the families of those killed, injured, and still missing. We pray for peace and will always stand against the evils of hate,” added the statement.
