The terrorists who entered Israel on the morning of October 7 planned to occupy an important strategic facility in the center of the country, a report showed. In the investigative program, "Real Time," it was revealed this week that the security forces found Hamas terrorists to be in possession of maps which contained precise drawings with sensitive information on a strategic and important facility in the center of the country, which they intended to reach and capture. According to the report, maps of two communities were also discovered with very disturbing target markings. Some of the markings proved that Hamas had gathered sensitive intelligence information. The discovery of the maps and the large amount of information held by the terrorists was revealed in an investigation by The New York Times which showed how the Hamas commando fighters possessed maps and detailed plans. The terrorists were divided into groups with defined missions - and also knowledge of IDF secrets and "weak points.” Related articles: Hamas: Ceasefire talks gaining momentum Released hostage to be honored by USA Protests in Gaza an opportunity to end Hamas rule Sanders moves to block $8.8 billion in US arms sales to Israel The investigation, credited to Yedioth Ahronoth journalist Ronen Bergman, cited at least one instruction document found on the body of a terrorist who was killed, videos taken by the terrorists themselves, and conversations with officials privy to the details. It shows that Hamas had a surprising amount of knowledge about how the IDF operates. It also showed that Hamas knew where specific military units were stationed, and how long it would take for reinforcements to arrive to help the forces in the field when the attack began. A senior Israeli military official told The Times that in some of the bases, the terrorists knew exactly where the communication servers were - and destroyed them. As a result it was very difficult to identify the extent of the intrusion, call for help, and formulate a faster response. According to the report, in the attack on an intelligence base, the terrorists first had difficulty finding their way inside the base, and pulled out a map with color markings to find their way around. They then proceeded towards a fortified building, where they found an unlocked door. Inside, they entered a computer room, which, according to The Times , served as an intelligence center. Under the bed in that room they found two soldiers who were probably trying to hide - and shot them to death.
