At least four rockets were fired this afternoon (Thursday) towards central Israel. At least two of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.
The police reported that officers were called to the scene where rocket debris landed in the Rishon Lezion sector. A home was struck in the rocket attack. No injuries have been reported so far.
The home that was struck belongs to an elderly couple in their 70s who saved their own lives when they entered a protected room in response to the sirens.
Red alert sirens were activated in numerous communities in central Israel during the rocket attack.
Shortly beforehand, red alert sirens were activated in much of the Galilee, including Safed, Ma'alot, and Meron. Multiple rocket strikes were reported in Kiryat Shmona, including a direct hit on a restaurant.
The IDF reported that over the previous hour, a number of launches from Lebanon toward Israeli territory were identified.
In response, the IDF struck a series of Hezbollah terror targets in Lebanon.
The Hamas terrorist organization claimed responsibility for the rocket fire from Lebanon and stated that 12 rockets were fired at northern Israel.
Meanwhile, the consistent rocket attacks on southern Israel continued through the afternoon hours, with an attack on Be'er Sheva shortly after 4 pm.
