Israel entered its fifth week of war, which has been dubbed "Swords of Iron," on Saturday. The war was sparked on October 7th, when the Hamas terrorist organization launched a surprise attack by land, air, and sea. After a heavy barrage of several thousand rockets, Hamas terrorists invaded Israeli territory, infiltrating military bases and civilian population centers, where they massacred the inhabitants and took others captive. As of Sunday, November 5, over 1,400 Israelis have been killed, about 4,000 were injured, and at least 210 Israelis, including civilians, are in Hamas captivity. IDF troops are continuing to eliminate terrorists in close-quarter combat and direct aircraft to strike Hamas terrorist infrastructure, weapons depots, observation posts, and command and control centers in the Gaza Strip. Overnight, IDF troops directed aircraft to strike a Hamas military compound containing command and control centers, observation posts, and additional terrorist infrastructure. During the combined activities of ground, air, and naval forces in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, over 2,500 terror targets have been struck. Thursday, 5:00 p.m.: Following the report regarding sirens that sounded in northern Israel, several mortar shells fired from Lebanon to Israel were identified. IDF soldiers struck the launcher from which the mortar shells were fired. The Hezbollah targets struck included military structures and posts in which the terrorists operated, along with a number of technological assets used to direct terror against Israel. A short while ago, the IDF struck a terrorist cell in Lebanon that operated adjacent to the area of Biranit in northern Israel. Wednesday, 7:40 p.m.: IDF ground troops and “Yahalom” soldiers conducted joint activity in the Beit Hanoun area in order to locate and destroy terror tunnels. The troops located a tunnel shaft near a UNWRA school and destroyed the terror tunnel. Wednesday, 7:24 p.m.: Sirens are sounding in several locations in northern Israel due to a suspected aerial infiltration. Wednesday, 3:30 p.m.: A short while ago, IDF soldiers struck a number of anti-tank missile launching posts belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization. Furthermore, terrorists launched an anti-tank missile toward IDF soldiers in the area of Dovev. The IDF responded with artillery fire toward the origin of the launch. Two IDF soldiers were injured – one lightly and the other moderately – and have been evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment. Their families have been notified. Furthermore, earlier today, two launches toward the areas of Shtula and Yiftah in northern Israel were identified. The IDF responded with tank and artillery fire toward the origin of the launches. No injuries were reported. Wednesday, 3:25 p.m.: IDF troops identified an anti-tank missile launching post in which Hamas terrorists were located. The launching posts were connected via an underground passage to a weapons storage facility. The troops conducted an air strike, damaging the terrorist infrastructure. The terrorists then escaped to the roof of the infrastructure and were killed in an additional strike. Furthermore, a short while ago, Hamas terrorist operatives were identified as launching mortars toward Israeli territory. In response, an IDF aircraft and a fighter jet directed by the Fire Control Center of the Gaza Division struck the launching post, as well as the terrorists. Monday, 3:50 p.m.: The IDF announced that overnight, an IAF fighter jet, directed by ISA and IDF intelligence, killed the Commander of Hamas’ Deir al-Balah Battalion in the Central Camps Brigade, Wael Asefa. Asefa, together with others commanders of the Central Camps Brigade, was responsible for sending Hamas “Nukhba” terrorists into Israeli territory during the barbaric massacre on October 7th. Following the massacre, he planned additional terrorist attacks. Wael Asefa was imprisoned between 1992-1998 for his involvement in terrorist attacks against Israeli communities and has been involved in the incitement and promotion of terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers for decades.
