Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) responded to fellow Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), after she denied that the phrase “From the river to the sea”, which is chanted during pro-Palestinian Arab protests, means that Arabs seek a state that is free of Jews.
Tlaib, who accused President Joe Biden of supporting “genocide” in Gaza in a post on X, added, “From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity.”
In response, Wasserman Schultz wrote, “This phrase means eradicating Israel and Jews. Period. Dressing it up in a new PR ploy won’t change that.”
“Only a return of hostages, eliminating Hamas and liberating Gaza from oppressive terror will save civilian lives and secure the peace, justice and dignity you seek,” she added.
This is the second time since the fighting against Hamas began that Wasserman Schultz has responded to an anti-Israel statement from one of the members of the so-called Squad of progressive Democrats.
Last month, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was quick to blame Israel for an explosion at a hospital in Gaza, which was later proven to have been caused by an Islamic Jihad rocket.
Wasserman Schultz responded to Omar’s post and said, “Any civilian deaths are tragic. Hamas intentionally murdered 1300 Israelis and took 200 hostages because they are Jewish and want to eradicate Israel.”
“We don't know the facts. You have been training your outrage on the wrong party. We do know that Hamas' hatred is the catalyst,” she added.
