Staff Sergeant Yehonatan Yitzchak Samo, a soldier in the Paratroopers Brigade from Carmei Tzur, has died several days after he was badly wounded in battle with Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip, it was cleared for publication today (Friday).

The Carmei Tzur municipality released a statement saying: "Carmei Tzur announces with great sadness the passing of one our community's sons, Paratrooper Yehonatan Yitzchak Samo, the son of Ayelet and Moshe."

"Yehonatan was severely wounded in the head last Wednesday in the fighting in the Gaza Strip and today he died of his wounds. At this difficult time, we embrace the dear Samo family and send strength to his parents, Ayelet and Moshe, and his siblings Barry, Lavi, Tamar, and Ahinoam," the community stated.

Samo is the 38th IDF soldier to fall in battle since the beginning of ground operations in the Gaza Strip two weeks ago.

Israel has been at war with Hamas, the terrorist organization that rules the Gaza Strip, since Hamas launched an unprovoked attack on southern Israel on the morning of October 7.

Over 1,400 people were murdered in the massacre, which became the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Nazi Holocaust. The terrorists also kidnapped about 240 people and have been holding them hostage in Gaza for over a month.
