Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the official spokesman for Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas, said on Sunday that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian lands and is under the responsibility of the PLO.
In a statement, Abu Rudeineh said that the Israeli attempts to separate Judea and Samaria from the Gaza Strip will fail, and that the deepening of the "occupation" in these areas and in eastern Jerusalem will not bring security to anyone.
"Israel must stop the aggression it carries out against our people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and the American administration must act immediately to stop the war of extermination that Israel is waging in the Gaza Strip," he said.
"Security and stability in the region and in the world will only be achieved with the end of the Israeli occupation, and with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders that will include the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip," he continued.
In this context, Abu Rudeineh stressed that "the end of the occupation is what will bring security and stability, and all international efforts will not bear fruit as long as the occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem exists, and that the removal of the occupation is the only solution to restoring stability and preventing the continued explosion of the situation in the entire region."
