Students at the "Orot Yehuda" Bnei Akiva Yeshiva gathered to sing songs of inspiration and faith, in memory of their teacher Lucy Dee, who was murdered by terrorists on Passover 2023 together with her daughters Maia and Rina.
The students sang, "Hitna'ari Me'afar," in memory of Dee, who was a beloved English teacher in their yeshiva. Rabbi Leo Dee, Lucy's widower, visited the yeshiva to sing along with them.
Towards the end of the song, Rabbi Dee turned to the students, saying, "Our Emek Habacha (lit. the valley of crying, but named as a location in the song) last Passover was in the Jordan valley, but the Holy One, Blessed be He, had great mercy towards me, and mercifully allowed me to see the great love you had towards Lucy. And I know how much she loved you."
He added, "People ask me, 'What if you had left ten minutes later on the day of the terror attack?' And I answer them, 'I am not allowed to ask, 'what if,' other than for one exception: What if the Holy One, Blessed be He, knows better than I do? And this gives me comfort."
