Thousands of haredim who are affiliated with the extremist Jerusalem Faction gathered outside the Jerusalem Enlistment Center on Thursday to protest against the enlistment of haredim to the IDF.
Hashmonaim Street in the city is closed to traffic.
The protesters carried placards reading: "Either haredi or military," "I do not cooperate with the forced apostasy law," and "No compromises and no concessions."
One of the faction's rabbis stated at the demonstration: "We are rebelling against the state with strength and pride, and announce: 'We will die and not enlist.' They deal in haredi souls like the Nazis dealt in Jews. The authorities learned well that there is no reason to talk with the haredim, this is a decree to annihilate us."
