Israel is ready to discuss "border corrections" in the conflict with Lebanon as part of the understandings that are emerging in the efforts to prevent a war against Hezbollah, Kan 11 News reported on Wednesday.
According to sources quoted in the report, as part of the proposal that the Biden administration is trying to promote, the first stage will include a "freeze of the situation" in the framework of which Hezbollah will be removed from the border by several kilometers, but not beyond the Litani River, as Israel stated it would demand from the beginning.
The Prime Minister's Office would not comment on the report.
Earlier on Wednesday, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi conducted a tour and held a situational assessment at the Lebanese border with the Commanding Officer of the Northern Command, MG Ori Gordin, the Commanding Officer of the 146th Division, BG Yisrael Shomer, and other commanders.
During the visit, the Chief of Staff spoke with reserve commanders of the "Etzioni" Brigade (6), which has been on operational duty in the western Galilee over recent weeks.
"You are doing an excellent job of operational defense in the north, and we are preparing for an offensive in the north," Halevi said.
