The IDF published a statement in Hebrew on Saturday regarding the security forces' operation near Tulkarem. The statement described an Islamic Jihad terrorist as an operative "whose two brothers are 'shahids' (martyrs)."
Shortly after the statement was published, the IDF deleted the post from social media and clarified: "In a joint statement by the IDF spokesperson, ISA spokesperson, and police spokesperson about the elimination of a terror cell in Tulkarem that was sent to the media earlier this evening, there was a mistake in terminology that stemmed from human error. The statement was deleted and republished after being corrected."
During the operation on Saturday terrorists who were involved in the murder of Elhahan Klein last November were eliminated. The operation lasted 14 hours. The same terrorists also committed the attack on Route 55 in which a soldier was severely wounded. Hamas took responsibility for the attack in which Klein was murdered and even published footage from the two attacks.
