As Israel marks a year since the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit is publishing updated data on its operational activity in the past year.

As of September 19, 2024, a total of approximately 300,000 reservists have been enlisted since the beginning of the war. Approximately 18% of reservists are women, and approximately 82% of reservists are men.

46.56% of reservists are between the ages of 20-29; 27.65% of reservists are between the ages of 30-39; 12.56% of reservists are between the ages of 40-49; 4.81% of reservists are between the ages of 50-59; 1.08% of reservists are between the ages of 60-69. Other age groups make up 7.34% of reservists

Since the start of the war and as of September 25, 2024, eight terrorist brigade commanders have been eliminated in Gaza. Approximately 30 terrorist battalion commanders have been eliminated, and approximately 165 terrorist company commanders have been eliminated.

In the northern arena, more than 800 terrorists have been eliminated, and approximately 90 commanders have been eliminated. In the central arena, approximately 690 terrorists have been eliminated.

Over 7,000 interrogations have been conducted by Unit 504 since the beginning of the war. Many of those interrogated have been incriminated as terrorists and some took part in the October 7 Massacre.

During combat in Gaza, individuals suspected in terrorist activities were arrested. Relevant suspects are interrogated in Gazan territory or taken for further detention and questioning in Israeli territory. Individuals who are found not to be involved in terrorist activity are released as soon as possible into Gazan territory, to a location where they are not in danger. Individuals who reason is found to continue their detention in accordance with Israeli law are brought to a judicial review before a judge.

As of September 25, 2024, approximately 40,300 targets have been struck from the air in Gaza. In addition, over 1,000 rocket launcher sites have been dismantled and approximately 4,700 tunnel shafts have been located.

In the northern arena, as of September 29, 2024, approximately 4,900 targets have been struck from the air. Approximately 6,000 ground targets have been struck since the beginning of the war. There have been approximately 172,000 naval operational hours.

According to data from the IDF Central Command, more than 10,000 counterterrorism operations have been conducted and more than 5,000 wanted suspects have been arrested in Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley since the start of the war.

In addition, there have more than 150 Brigade-scale operations, approximately 30 terrorists' residences have been demolished and approximately 1,000 munitions have been confiscated.

As of October 2, 2024, approximately 13,200 launches from Gaza toward Israeli territory have been recorded. Approximately 12,400 launches from Lebanon toward Israeli territory have been recorded. There have been approximately 60 launches from Syria, approximately 180 launches from Yemen, and approximately 400 launches from Iran toward Israeli territory.

726 soldiers have fallen since the start of the war whose names have been cleared for publication, including 346 since the beginning of ground operations on October 27, 2023. Of those, 56 fell as a result of operational accidents, 28 personnel were killed as a result of friendly fire, five personnel were killed as a result of irregular fire, 20 personnel were killed as a result of accidents (weapons or car accidents), two personnel were killed as a result of aerial coordination, and one was killed as a result of a hazardous materials event.

16 personnel are currently hospitalized in mild condition, 151 are hospitalized in moderate condition, and 29 are in severe condition.

Since the beginning of the war, there have been 2,731 mildly injured personnel, 1,149 moderately injured, and 696 severely injured. There have been a total of 4,576 injured personnel.

*These figures do not include those evacuated not as a result of an operational incident, and those who arrived at the emergency room and were not hospitalized / whose level of injury was not defined (including mild) and above.

Since the beginning of ground operations in Gaza, 1,155 military personnel have been mildly injured, 702 have been moderately injured, 442 were severely injured. There have been a total of 2,299 injured.

71 personnel were injured as a result of friendly fire, 42 personnel were injured due to irregular fire, 79 personnel were injured due to road incidents and 834 were injured due to other reasons such as fire, weather and hazardous materials.

Data Regarding Mental Health Treatment

Approximately 15,000 soldiers have experienced mental distress during the war. This refers to individuals who were exposed to a traumatic incident with potential for developing symptoms following it.

Approximately 82% of those affected have returned to combat. Approximately 2,000 soldiers have been treated by the team for treatment of combat response. The team for treatment of combat response treats combat soldiers who have experienced initial "shell shock" in the field. The team provides soldiers with mental health response and general services in order for them to be able to return to combat.

Approximately 85% of soldiers treated by the team have returned to combat. Approximately 1,500 soldiers are assigned to a homefront rehabilitation center. The homefront rehabilitation center treats soldiers who were not able to return to combat within 72 hours since the time of the incident they experienced. It provides focused mental health response and includes pharmaceutical treatments and various activities.

Approximately 75% of soldiers who have arrived at a homefront rehabilitation center have returned to their service.

Approximately 40 mental health officers went into combat zones to treat patients.
