An Israeli woman was murdered on Friday while traveling in the Tulum region of Mexico. The circumstances surrounding the murder are unclear at this stage.

The woman's family is in Mexico. Israel's consul in the country, Idit Davidovich, and the Department for Israelis Abroad in the Consular Section of the Foreign Ministry, are helping in bringing the body back to Israel.

The woman's name has not yet been cleared for publication.

Last month, the body of 35-year-old Israeli Matan Orgad was found in India, 12 kilometers (7.45 miles) from the village of Kasol in the country's northern Himachal Pradesh province.

Orgad, who lived in Kibbutz Kfar Aza in southern Israel, had not contacted his family since the beginning of December.

On December 2, he left Kasol for smaller villages, leaving his belongings at a guesthouse. When he did not contact the guesthouse within a reasonable period of time, Orgad's family turned to the "Migdal" insurance company, which hired the services of the Magnus search and rescue organization.

Rescue teams working together with Israel's Foreign Ministry and the Migdal insurance company searched various local villages before finding Orgad's body.
