In advance of UN Secretary Ban Ki-Moon lightning trip to Israel, Israel’s UN Ambassador, Danny Danon made clear that he expects “the Secretary General to unequivocally condemn Palestinian Leadership’s incitement to violence.”
Today (Tuesday) Ambassador Danon is rushing back to Israel for a short visit, in order to accompany the meeting between UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
Amb. Danon issued a strong denunciation last week at the United Nations Security Counsel of Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and his “brainwashing of hate and incitement” of Palestinian children to murder Israelis.
Examples of that incitement were provided in Monday’s Wall Street Journal by Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely, who also traced the recent spate of Palestinian terror-murders against Israeli civilians to Abbas’ virulent exhortations.
Hotovely wrote that “Mr. Abbas, the Palestinian Authority president, said the following on Palestinian television on Sept. 16: 'We welcome every drop of blood spilled in Jerusalem. This is pure blood, clean blood, blood on its way to Allah. With the help of Allah, every martyr will be in heaven, and every wounded will get his reward.'”
"Two weeks later, on Oct. 1, Palestinian terrorists murdered an Israeli couple, Eitam and Naama Henkin, in cold blood in front of their four children, who ranged from 9 years old to 4 months," Hotoveli continued.
Danon’s trip to Israel will last only a few hours, and the ambassador will return to New York immediately afterwards to attend Thursday’s Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East.
