Police announced that fake news that appeared to be on their behalf, were circulated warning of impending terrorist attacks across the country, and even calling on the public to stay indoors.

"We call on the public to rely solely on information originating from the official outlets of the Israel Police. We also ask the public to refrain from passing on messages of an unknown origin," said the police in a statement.
