In wake of reports according to which, the government is trying to remove Dani Dayan from his post as chairman of Yad Vashem, Ellen Germain, the Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues at the U.S. Department of State wrote on social media: "The U.S. values the crucial work of Yad Vashem & its director’s leadership as we work together on Holocaust education, remembrance, & research. Maintaining the independence of such institutions around the world is key as we face efforts to distort/deny the facts of the Holocaust".
