Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Sunday evening informed the MKs of the Religious Zionist Party that he will support Rabbi Micha Halevi, Chief Rabbi of Petah Tikva, for the post of Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel.

Smotrich said that Rabbi Halevi has the highest chances of being elected as the Chief Rabbi of Israel after thirty years in which no Religious Zionist chief rabbi was elected.
