Riots accompanied by incitement calls erupted on Saturday night near the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem.
Arabs began throwing bottles, rocks and objects at police officer. In addition, a trash bin was set on fire.
Undercover and covert police forces operated in the area to arrest and remove the instigators and rioters. At least four suspects were arrested for questioning on charges of throwing objects and disrupting public order, and further arrests of suspects who were documented throwing objects at police forces and passers-by are expected.
In addition, police arrested a man suspected of uploading a live video to TikTok in which he threatened to harm security forces. He was taken for questioning by the police.
"Anyone chooses to disturb the order, riot and use violence of any kind - harms first and foremost a large public of worshipers, merchants and visitors - the vast majority of whom want to celebrate Ramadan in peace and security while maintaining freedom of worship. We will not allow those on the margins to disturb the order," the Israel Police said.
"We call on the public to mark the month of Ramadan legally, to obey the instructions of the police and to avoid violence and disorder of any kind," it added.
